FLIGHT TO THE IGUAZÚ CATARATS

Early in the morning we will be transferred to the Buenos Aires airport to take the flight to Iguazu. We will do one of the most interesting and unforgettable excursions along the catwalks that take us to know the imposing waterfalls on the Argentine side, we will walk to the Garganta del Diablo, a work of nature that impresses with its furious waters of 80 meters high. From the Lower Circuit we can appreciate the abundant nature that surrounds us, while we descend the steps that allow us to see the spectacle of these curtains of water surrounded by dense vegetation. We will go through the Álvar Núñez jump, from where we will have the first views of the Garganta del Diablo. Following the path, we find San Martin Island and the jump of the same name as well as Bosetti Falls, and Two Sisters. We can stay to watch this water show while we cool off since the clash of these against the rocks produces a steam that will splash us completely. We continue our circuit, this time the upper one, where we will go through the same jumps, but with a different view of the Falls and its surroundings.  We will also get closer to our next point, the most impressive, which will guide us with the bellow of the watercourses. We will arrive by train to the Garganta del Diablo station to travel a winding road between the islands and thus be able to have a wide view of this great fault in the middle of the jungle, created, according to a legend, by the fury of the God of the Iguazu River. As an activity apart from the route, along the catwalks, we will embark on an adventure in which we will sail until we enter the canyon of the Iguazu River and then travel 2 km of its rapids and have a beautiful view of San Martin Island. We will surround it until we reach the homonymous jump to get excited and get wet from very close. We will return in all-terrain vehicles traveling through the dense jungle that surrounds the National Park.

IGUAZÚ CATARATS ( Brazilian side )

Today, an extremely beautiful tour of a single 1km walkway awaits us to see the Iguazu waterfalls on the Brazilian side. During this tour, in addition to knowing a little more about the fauna and flora, we can have a unique postcard of the waterfalls since the area is clear because jumps are concerned. Most of the jumps are on the argentinian side forming a wall of water 2700 meters wide. Therefore, the Garganta del Diablo, on this side will shine in all its splendor until we are amazed. In addition, this place is the habitat of rare species of fauna, some of them in danger of extinction, such as the giant otter, the anteater, the jaguar, the common deer, and the yellow alligator. We can also find native flowers such as orchids, bromeliads and countless butterflies. We will have dinner at one of the best steakhouses in Foz do Iguazú, where a wide variety of entrees, dishes and desserts are offered. During dinner we will enjoy a Latin American show by various artists.

VISIT AL GLACIER PERITO MORENO

Early in the morning we embark on our way to know the most famous glacier in the world. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1981, it is considered unique for several features such as its continuous progress, its easy access either from the viewpoints or offering us the opportunity to walk on it. It takes its name in honor of the great explorer of the Patagonian zone, the Perito Francisco Moreno. We border the southern margin of the Argentinian lake, then, we cross the Centinela and Mitre rivers while discovering postcards of the Andean pre-mountain range. We arrive to the Rico arm entering to the Glaciers National Park. As we border Lake Rico we begin to see the blocks of drifting ice until we get a complete overview of this colossus glacier. If the weather conditions favor us, we may have the privilege of witnessing a unique phenomenon in the Argentine Patagonia: the landslides of its southern wall, large icebergs falling loudly on the Channel that bears his name because they accumulate there or in the Rico Arm. We will be able to know the glacier from different panoramic points and cross its walkways while we are informed about its history, its characteristics and its surroundings. In the afternoon, we return to the hotel.

NAVIGATING BETWEEN GLACIERS

Today we have a day dedicated to sailing among ice giants in the glaciers National Park. We move to Punta Bandera to embark early and begin our navigation through  Lake Argentino. The largest and southernmost of all the lakes in the Argentine Patagonia region. It extends along 1466 km2 with a depth ranging between 150 and 500 meters. We begin sailing along the north arm of the lake and approach the Upsala Glacier. This one integrates a valley constituted by other glaciers, extending in more than 850 km2 and elevates its walls to almost 80 meters. Its name is due to the homonymous University located in Sweden which was the first to conduct a survey on the surrounding region in the twentieth century. We continue navigating the Spegazzini channel, observing the Dry Glacier, until we meet the front of the Glacier. On the other hand, the Spegazzini is the highest of the park’s glaciers. It measures 135 meters and is located on the homonymous arm of Lake Argentino. Finally we return to Punta Bandera.

ADVENTURE OFF ROAD 4X4 IN LOS LAGOS

We begin our adventure in 4 × 4 towards the lakes of fuegninos, Fagnano and Escondido. We move to the center of the Big Island of the land of fire, being able to observe the transition between the Andes Mountains and the end of the wild Patagonia.  We stop at the Alto del Valle Winter Center, to see the breeding and training of Siberian sled dogs (in winter). We continue north to cross the Andean Cordillera in the Luis Garibaldi Pass, with a unique view of the Escondido and Fagnano lakes. this pass connects the Black River and the island’s rooms with Ushuaia. This mountain pass is the highest place reaching 460 meters above sea level.  Then, we approach Lake Escondido (hidden lake) to share a snack before starting our off road adventure. The Lago Escondido (Hidden Lake), also called Laguna Escondida (Hidden Lagoon), is trapped in a forest full of coihues, pines and lengas. You can tell how beavers are acting on trees, turning them to use them in the creation of their reservoirs, causing flooding in the forest. We enter the forest along the paths made by the lumberjacks. The trucks are filled with mud little by little. Suddenly the picture becomes another, we leave the wooded path to reach Lake Fagnano and then continue to the camp for a delicious lunch. Afterwards we return to Ushuaia.

TIERRA DEL FUEGO, BEAGLE CHANNEL AND FLIGHT TO BUENOS AIRES

We will visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park (Land of Fire National Park), created on October 15, 1960. Through its well-marked trails we can appreciate the most representative species of local flora and fauna. We can also visualize the “marks” left by the Yámanas Indians, an aboriginal community that inhabited these forests. During the walk, we will have the great opportunity to observe landscapes such as the Pipo River Waterfall, Ensenada Bay, Roca Lake, Black Lagoon and, finally, Lapataia Bay. We will ascend a great slope until we reach La Macarena, previously bordering the Pipo River, which we will cross through the Burned Bridge. At your next stop, we will have a privileged view of the remains of the old sawmill. Continuing with our trip, we will leave the river to enter a forest of coihues and lengas. Then, we go along the Beagle Channel. Our starting point begins in the Ushuaia Bay, located on the banks of the city that has the same name, entering the channel through the Paso Chico. In ancient times, Pastor Thomas Bridges said that “Bahía de Ushuaia” meant “Bay of meek water” or “Bay that penetrates to the west.” The Beagle Channel, which is located south of the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego, is of glacial origin, with an area of 180 km. It connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Baptized by Captain Fitz Roy in honor of the “Beagle” boat that along with Lieutenant Murray discovered the channel in 1830. It was established as a political border between Argentina and Chile. In both the Ushuaia Bay and the Beagle Channel we contemplate a diversity of marine birds, being able to see skuas, black-browed albatrosses, cauquenes, cook gulls, etc. The crossing reaches the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. It has a conical tower with a height of 11 meters and 22.5 meters above sea level. The name of this lighthouse was placed according to the place where it is located: Les Eclaireurs and the name was given by Captain Luis Fernando Martial. The tour continues in towards the Island of the Sea Lions, where we observe sea lions of one and two hairs and the settlement of cormorants. We can observe closely the habitat of these mammals. Following the route, we sail to the Isla de los Pájaros (Bird’s Island), where there is a settlement of Magellan and imperial cormorants, we will enjoy knowing more than 20 more species of seabirds. Both islands make up the Bridges Archipelago. After admiring incredible landscapes we will board our plane to return to the city of Buenos Aires.
